Wild Celebration by Canadian Women's Hockey Team

The IOC is mad at the Canadian Women's Hockey Team for drinking and smoking on the ice after their 2-0 Gold Medal Win over the USA. I love it! These Canadian women are living up to the stereotype that Canadian's love their beer and love to drink!- Kofod

Oprah Makes a Fool of Herself to Drew Brees

I know this is a few weeks old, but it is still hillarious. Drew Brees goes on Oprah's show after the Super Bowl win. Oprah, upon meeting Brees, mistakes Brees' birthmark for lipstick and trys to get it off. Nice job Oprah! -Kofod

Vonn v. Mancuso

A lot has been made this week about the rivalry between America's sweetheart Lindsey Vonn and the overshadowed, but equally solid Julia Mancuso.

It all started when Mancuso started taking shots at Vonn through the media and a sports illustrated interview. It has since went through the typical media whirlwind and has become Vonn v. Mancuso instead of the U.S. v. everybody else.

Mancuso was robbed in the Super G, but I am extremely disappointed that she decided to forgo the slalom while Vonn is gutting it out and going for it despite a broken (is it pinkie or pinky?) finger. This just improves Vonn's case for being America's sweetheart. She is already racing on a banged up shin and now Mancuso is stepping aside and letting Vonn receive more attention. If Mancuso is truly bothered by the fact that Vonn is hogging the spotlight, then she should have stepped up, entered the slalom and beat Vonn.

Why does any of this matter? It really doesn't. The reason it has gained such steam is because people love drama and both women are pretty sexy. So I leave you with this question. Who is the more attractive skier.
Vonn?

 or Mancuso?

It's a toss up. I'll put my money on Clair Bidez.

Music Video of the Week February 25th

Alright the very first of my Music Videos of the Week. I had to start off with Rihanna. This is her new music video from her song Rude Boy. A very sexy and fun video by Rihanna.

Tony Kornheiser is The Man!

One thing that I like to do is download certain sports podcasts and put them on my itunes. When I'm at school, the car, or at home I can listen to these podcasts. I love Bill Simmons of ESPN.com and his B.S. Report. Other personalities I like include WFAN's Mike Francesa, and ESPN' Colin Cowherd and I will download and listen to their podcasts from time to time. I also enjoy ESPNU's college football podcast and ESPN has a NFL Draft Preview Podcast each week now leading up to the draft with Mel Kiper and Todd McShay which is very good as well. But by far my favorite sports podcast is Tony Kornheiser's radio show.

Many of you know him from PTI. He is great on that show. But he is a million times better on radio. He does a local radio show in Washington D.C. for that city's ESPN Radio station from 10 a.m. to Noon each weekday. And it is great. He bashes everyone. From Hoda Kopi of the TODAY Show to Gilbert Arenas to local Maryland polticians who he dislikes to even the love of my life Rihanna, who he thinks has no talent, Kornheiser will bash everyone calling for their heads and in some cases death. He does it all in a sarcastically funny way.

One of his targets is (now was, he won't bash her ever again)Hannah Storm. Storm is a beautiful woman who does the morning SportsCenter and likes to wear different "fashionable" outfits. Last Tuesday Kornheiser had this to say on Storm:

"Hannah Storm in a horrifying, horrifying outfit today. She's got on red go-go boots and a catholic school plaid skirt ... way too short for somebody in her 40s or maybe early 50s by now." [She's 47.] "She's got on her typically very, very tight shirt. She looks like she has sausage casing wrapping around her upper body ... I know she's very good, and I'm not supposed to be critical of ESPN people, so I won't ... but Hannah Storm ... come on now! Stop! What are you doing? ... She's what I would call a Holden Caulfield fantasy at this point."

Kornheiser was soon suspended for two weeks to go on PTI by ESPN and has since apologozied to Storm. I listened to it on my iPod and at the time thought nothing of it because he has bashed her, along with so many other people,so many times before. Should he have said it? No. But I loved it. He is so funny on radio. He'll talk sports but he'll also talk music, politics, funny news stories, anything and everything. As I said he is by far my favorite podcast and he is still doing the radio show despite not being on PTI. In fact yesterday when I went to download the lastest podcast on my iPod I saw his show became the most popular sports podcast which never has been before. So if your looking to listen to something funny on sports and other matters I say check his show out. You can get it on your iTunes by typing in his name or go to http://www.espn980.com to download episodes their. On this video go from the 31 second mark to the 1:46 mark for the audio of it. You'll notice he also bashes Chris Berman for putting on all the weight he said he lost from Nutrisystem.

So Kornheiser ya messed but keep up the bashing.

My Prediction for the future of the BCS Conferences

As some of you might know the Big Ten is looking to expand to 12 teams. The Big 10 wants to do this so they can have a Conference Championship Game. By doing this they will make more money, and it will allow the Big 10 Champion not to have as long of a layoff to the BCS Bowl Game they would be in compared to the other teams in the BCS Conferences.

Some would say the nominees for the 12th Big Ten team would include Notre Dame, Rutgers, and Syracuse. I don't see any of these teams being that 12th team. Notre Dame will always be an indepenedent, especially if all their home games continue to be on NBC and they get that BCS deal where if they win 10 games they can get an automatic spot in the BCS. Rutgers is not attractive at all. NYC does not care about Rutgers. And Syracuse would be crazy to leave the Big East for the Big 10. They would be even worse and football and they would lose all the great rivalries they have now in basketball.

So who would be that 12th team? I think Missouri is the best bet. They really have no natural rivalries in the Big XII right now. But if they join the Big 10 they have a natural conference rivalry with Illinois and geographically it makes sense.

If Missouri leaves the Big XII then that conference would need to add a new team. Many would say TCU. I understand the argument, because TCU is so good right now. But the fact is even as a Top 5 team they have a small stadium and hardly ever sell out. They are not a money maker. I think the Big XII would ask Arkansas. And Arkansas would leave in a second. Arkansas has no natural rivalry in the SEC, maybe LSU to a certain extent. But in the Big XII they could resume the old Southwest Conference rivalry they had with Texas. It would make a lot of sense for Arkansas to leave the SEC for the Big XII.

So now the SEC would need to add a team. Obviously it would have to be a southern team. My best bet is they would either take Clemson or Florida State. Clemson is as passionate about football as any program in the south. Good fan base, good tradition, and a natural rivalry with South Carolina. And Florida State is a big time money making program with tons of tradition. As a FSU fan I personally would love it if FSU went to the SEC. Yes it would be harder competition. But other than Miami and Clemson, Florida State has no major rivals in the ACC. Maryland and N.C. State does not get FSU fans excited. But going down to Death Valley in LSU or playing at home to Alabama, that would be awesome. I think the ACC, if they lost one of those teams, would then try to get South Florida or West Virginia. That would make sense.

Also the PAC 10 has recently come out saying it would like to one day add a couple of teams and have a conference championship of its own. I think Boise State would be a logical choice. And then perhaps Utah would be the other pick.

Will college football have a playoff anytime soon? Probably not. But in 5 years the BCS conferences could look dramatically different and for the better. Just think 5 years from now on the first Saturday of December. Championship Saturday they would call it. The SEC Championship pits Florida vs. Florida State. The Big XII Championship has Nebraska vs. Oklahoma. In the Pac 12 Championship we have Boise State vs. USC. The ACC Championship has Virginia Tech vs. South Florida. And the Midwest 12 (Big 10) pits Ohio State vs. Michigan in a rematch from a week ago. Every BCS bowl game, including the championship game, has spots on the line on this day. Championship Saturday. How great would that be?

Welcome to the KandKZone!

Kofod and myself (Kinney) have been blogging via facebook for awhile now, with Kofod doing most of the heavy lifting. Now we have decided to branch out and start our own site. Material will be released as we come up with it and early posts/predictions made by either myself of Kofod will be added once I get the hang of this setup.

The NBA is Back 80's Style

Magic. Bird. Jordan. Kareem. Isiah Thomas. Bernard King. Dominique Wilkins. This was the 1980's and this was when the NBA was at its best. You had the great players (those listed). You had great high flying teams; Lakers, Celtics, Pistons, and Rockets. You had upcoming teams like the Bulls. It was a fast paced league with many stars. If you loved Bird you disliked Magic. If you like Isiah you thought he was as good as the top tier stars. And if you loved Jordan than you wanted to fly just like he could.

The 1980's. The last great era of the NBA. Until now. The NBA is back and it hasn't been good since those times. Jordan was amazing in the 1990's. But their are more stars now than their were then. You have the obvious. Kobe and Lebron. Kobe continues to be clutch even as age and wear and tear come to him. And Lebron is simply amazing. He is a show to watch every night. He is the best player in the league.

But it is more than just those two. Carmelo Anthony is arguably having his best season. Dwyane Wade, while I still hate him, is still putting together amazing nights despite constant injuries and being on a below than average Heat team.

And then their is Kevin Durant. His 25 points a game in a row streak ended last night against the Spurs. However, this does not end his amazing season. He is carrying a very young Oklahoma City Thunder team. In my opinion he is 2nd, behind Lebron, in the race for the MVP. He is as clutch as any player in the league. Consider last Saturday night. I was sick. I was not going out. So I turn on the tv. Watching the Olympics which is fine and all. But my real watch was MSG. Thunder at the Knicks. Sounds bland but it was anything but. T-Mac made his debut as a Knick and did very well until his knees and fatigue took him out in overtime. On the other side Kevin Durant didn't have his greatest shooting night. But when the game was on the line he made the shots when they counted. At the end of regulation and overtime he made key 3's and 2's to win the game. He is a cold blooded assassin. He is the next great star of the NBA.

Also you have Dwight Howard. He's great no doubt. My boy Dirk Nowitzki is still getting it done. Great point guards like Chris Paul, Derrick Rose, Steve Nash, and Deron Williams are getting it done. Kevin Love, Stephen Curry, Tyreke Evans, and Brandon Jennings are some of the rising stars in the league. You have the great teams like the Cavs, Celtics, Magic, and Lakers. You have rising teams like the Thunder and the Bulls. The NBA now has something to offer everyone. And come free agency in July it will be fascinating to see where Lebron, Wade, and Chris Bosh end up. And of course the NBA playoffs will be equaly fascinating.

All of this NBA talk is coming from someone who is not even a big NBA fan. I still think the playoffs drag on too long. A Game 1 of a series will start on a Sunday and Game 2 will be on a Thursday. Their is way too many breaks in between games for my liking. I think it hurts the flow. The NHL playoffs have just as many games as the NBA playoffs do but do not drag on as long as the NBA does. That is the one thing I wish the NBA would improve on. But other than that the league is great. For the first time since that epic 2002 Game 7 between the Kings and the Lakers I am really into the NBA. It's been a great regular season and should be a great playoffs. All their is to do now is sit back and enjoy.
